After teaching the meanings of some adjectives related to facial expressions, eg sad, happy, bored, terrified, tired, etc and some related to being either sociable or unsociable, eg confident, friendly, mean, etc, I ask my students to mime being happy, sad, tired, etc and create tableaux where there are confident, friendly or mean students. I then take photos of them acting in this way. I put all the photos together on a large piece of paper, with the appropriate adjectives under each picture. This is displayed in the hall for the students to look at. The photographs attract their attention, they are interested in seeing themselves in them and they have the opportunity to see the adjectives they have just learnt once more.
