| Challenging dialogues |
|
|
Prepare a simple dialogue (maybe one from the textbook) and say it to the whole class three times: slowly the first time, quicker the second time, and at normal speed the third time. Students listen and repeat, but may not write anything down. In pairs or small groups, students then try to remember, practise and perform the whole dialogue. This may seem relatively simple or even dull, but students like it and the element of remembering is added to the ‘normal’ listening, understanding and speaking. Make the activity more challenging by making dialogues longer and the reading speed quicker and quicker. Yining Hu (Anhui Province, China) |
