Working with sequences Print
In A R Orage’s On Love and Other Psychological Exercises (Weisner, 1998) you will find a plethora of exercises that are ideal in short bursts with elementary students. Here are just two.

Alphabet sequences
This kind of exercise makes some language teachers cringe because they were not good at this sort of thing when they were at school themselves. However, it makes logical-mathematically minded students really happy: something intelligent at last in the EFL class!
Student 1: The letter Z minus three.
Student 2: That must be W. My turn. Letter H plus two.
Student 1: J. P plus four.
Student 2: T ...

Counting upwards, odds and evens
Orage intended activities like this to help students focus, concentrate and experience the here and now.
Student 1: 1
Student 2: 2
Student 1: 3
Student 2: 4
Student 1: 5
(They stop at 50.) If you like these samples, you might enjoy Orage’s book.
